First Democrat calls on Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to resign

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's future is looking more questionable by the day.

In the wake of a disturbing, unprecedented cover-up regarding a major health issue that he hid from the White House and the American public, calls for Austin's resignation have already begun.

Making matters worse for Austin is the fact that some of those calls are now coming from the Democratic side of the aisle.

According to Breitbart, Rep. Chris Deluzio (D-PA) is the latest member of Congress to call for Austin to resign. Deluzio is an Iraq war veteran.

The Democratic lawmaker held nothing back in his scathing assessment of Austin's poor decision-making in hiding his cancer diagnosis from the White House, Congress, and the American public.

"I have lost trust in Secretary Lloyd Austin’s leadership of the Defense Department due to the lack of transparency about his recent medical treatment and its impact on the continuity of the chain of command. I have a solemn duty in Congress to conduct oversight of the Defense Department through my service on the House Armed Services Committee," Deluzio said.

He added, "That duty today requires me to call on Secretary Austin to resign."

The California Democrat added, "I thank Secretary Austin for his leadership and years of dedicated service to the American people and wish him a speedy recovery."

It was noted that Deluzio is the first Democrat in Congress to call for Austin's resignation. Many believe more will follow, given the gravity of the situation.

It was reportedly only this week -- Tuesday to be exact -- that President Joe Biden and the White House were told that Austin had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

In a separate report, Breitbart noted:

Members of Congress — both Republicans and Democrats — are furious about the breakdown in communication between Biden and Austin, noting that they are the only two members given National Command Authority, or the ability to transmit lawful orders to the military, at such a fraught time.

Biden, already suffering from low approval and confidence ratings, is also under fire for not knowing that his Defense Secretary was in the hospital having surgery to treat cancer. Many have rightfully labeled that as an actual national security risk.

Only time will tell if Austin has the integrity to make the right call and resign from his post.
