FBI investigates alleged anti-Trump conspiracy within Obama administration

President Donald Trump’s FBI is turning the tables, digging into its own past to uncover a possible deep state plot against him.

The Daily Caller reported that under Director Kash Patel, the bureau is probing actions spanning from 2016’s Russian collusion claims to the 2023 classified documents case. This isn’t just navel-gazing—it’s a hunt for election meddling.

The investigation, launched weeks ago, examines whether FBI moves under prior administrations aimed to tilt U.S. elections against Trump.

It spans the 2016 Russia probe and the 2023 indictment over classified documents. Just the News reports potential criminal charges if classified evidence sees daylight.

Back in 2016, the FBI leaned on intelligence tied to Hillary Clinton’s campaign to justify surveilling Trump. Federal officials, serving under Barack Obama, pushed the now-debunked narrative of Trump-Russia collusion. Former Special Counsel John Durham’s 2023 report called that probe baseless, yet it haunted Trump’s campaign.

Clinton’s Shadow Looms Large

Clinton’s fingerprints are all over this. Classified records might reveal the FBI ignored her private email server missteps while secretary of state, where sensitive data was shared. That leniency smells like favoritism when juxtaposed with the bureau’s Trump scrutiny.

Another batch of classified intel, dubbed “Clinton plan intelligence,” fueled the FBI’s 2016 Trump investigation. Funded by Clinton’s campaign and the DNC, it smells like political sabotage dressed up as national security. The FBI’s willingness to run with it raises eyebrows.

Durham’s report didn’t mince words: the Russia probe lacked factual grounding. Yet, the FBI’s multiple surveillance attempts on Trump’s campaign kept the narrative alive, casting a shadow over 2016. Conservatives see this as a deliberate attempt to sway voters.

Fast forward to 2020, and the FBI’s actions get murkier. The bureau knew Hunter Biden’s laptop, detailing his foreign business ties and lifestyle, was legitimate. Still, it nudged social media platforms to label it Russian disinformation, stifling its spread.

Republicans argue this was a calculated move to boost Joe Biden’s 2020 chances. By downplaying the laptop’s contents, the FBI potentially shaped public perception before votes were cast. That’s not law enforcement—that’s playing favorites.

The FBI’s silence on these allegations doesn’t help its case. Neither the bureau nor the DOJ responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s inquiries. Stonewalling only fuels suspicions of a cover-up.

Classified Documents Case Unraveled

In 2023, Special Counsel Jack Smith hit Trump with four felony counts over classified documents.

The case, rooted in claims of mishandling sensitive materials, crumbled when Smith dropped it in November 2024 after Trump’s reelection. The timing raises questions about political motives.

Conservatives point to the documents case as another attempt to kneecap Trump. They argue Biden’s law enforcement weaponized prosecutions to derail Trump’s 2024 campaign. The swift dismissal post-election only deepens their distrust.

Patel’s probe could hinge on declassified evidence. Two sets of classified records—one tied to Clinton’s email scandal, the other to her campaign’s anti-Trump intel—might expose a pattern of bias. If Trump greenlights their release, the fallout could be seismic.

Fox News reports the FBI is now criminally investigating former intelligence leaders tied to the Russia probe.

This isn’t just a review—it’s a reckoning. Patel’s team is chasing accountability for what many see as a politicized witch hunt.

The probe’s scope is ambitious, spanning nearly a decade of alleged missteps. From Obama-era surveillance to Biden-era prosecutions, it’s a laundry list of grievances conservatives have long decried. Yet, without declassified evidence, it risks being dismissed as partisan score-settling.
