A mother has accused the judge who is overseeing her child custody case of making unwanted advances toward her. 

The New York Post reports that the incident occurred in New York at the Bronx Family Court.

The mother - Sidney Southerland - has made the allegation against 47-year-old Bronx Family Court Judge Cynthia Lopez. The judge has since recused herself from the case.

The Post reports, "A Bronx Family Court judge abruptly took herself off a child custody case after the mom involved publicly accused the jurist of coming on to her via a swinger’s app, The Post has learned."

This alleged advance was made on the app 3Fun, which calls itself "the leading app for sexually free singles and partners to meet like-minded people."

On the app, Southerland referred to herself as "Chyna," rather than her real name. She did, however, use a real photograph of herself. The judge, on the other hand, does appear to have used her real name, that is, "Cynthia."

The Post reports, "Southerland . . . provided a screenshot of the alleged message [that Cynthia sent to her] to The Post, along with the sender’s purported profile, which shows a photo of a brown-haired woman clad only in black heels and a black negligee, sitting cross-legged on a couch."

Lopez reportedly sent the message to Southerland on Jan. 24, 2024, just before 8 a.m. The message read, "GM [Good morning]. [I] am Cynthia. How are you?"

Southerland, recognizing the judge, replied, "B****, you know who the f*** I am."

Lopez reportedly then blocked Southerland, but, by the time Lopez did so, Southerland already had taken screenshots of the message as well as of Lopez's profile.

Here is what the judge's profile said:

We are a full swap [couple] in an [ethical non-monogamy] dynamic looking to have some hot sexy fun with other full swap [couples] and single ladies. We love thick girls just as much as we love petite girls! At the end of the day it’s all about personality. Guys at the most should be stocky and I, the female, prefer males to be somewhat endowed.

Southerland decided to go public with this incident, posting a message on TikTok and X, writing:

POV: you’re currently going to family court and the judge who acts like she hates you, inboxes you on a swingers dating app … a week before the next court date.

Southerland has accused the judge of having "slow-walked" her case to try to get in bed with her, and Southerland says that she will be filing a complaint against the judge.

For now, Lopez has recused herself from Southerland's case. It is unclear whether she will face any consequences for her alleged actions.
