Former President Donald Trump made quite the splash this week, from his interview with Tucker Carlson, to his mugshot after he was booked at the Fulton County Jail.

According to the Daily Caller, the 45th president stunned the social media world this week after making his first post on X, formerly known as Twitter, in over two years.

Trump has downplayed the multiple indictments he currently faces, and has used them to his political advantage, pushing the idea that the legal action taken against him is nothing more than election interference in disguise.

The former president made that message abundantly clear in his return to the social media platform that played a significant role in his messaging during his presidency.

Many have speculated that Trump would eventually return to the platform as part of his 2024 campaign strategy. While he has successfully used his own Truth Social platform to push out statements and make news, it still has a fraction of the reach of Elon Musk's X.

Musk himself commented on Trump's return, telling readers that the mugshot post was being viewed at a record clip.

Trump lost his ability to post on the platform under its previous, ultra-woke, censorship-happy management.

The Daily Caller noted:

Twitter permanently banned Trump in January 2021 for allegedly inciting or justifying violence during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Twitter CEO Elon Musk reinstated Trump’s account in November 2022 after a majority of users voted for the former president to return to the platform in a poll.

Social media users reacted to Trump's return tweet, with many welcoming him back, and his haters throwing the usual, predictable insults.
