Former President Donald Trump slammed a prisoner swap President Joe Biden negotiated with Iran that was announced Monday, the Daily Wire reported. Iran will get billions of dollars and five Iranian prisoners in exchange for five Americans.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken already approved the agreement that will give the terrorist state its prisoners and $6 billion in assets previously frozen. Trump called this a "terrible deal" that would ultimately undermine American interests.
"Can you believe that Crooked Joe Biden is giving $6 Billion to the terrorist regime in Iran?" Trump said Monday on Truth Social. "That money [will] be used for terrorism all over the Middle East, and, indeed, the World," the former president added.
"This incompetent FOOL is absolutely destroying America," Trump said of Biden. Considering the details of the deal, Trump is spot on.
The agreement will allow international banks to release billions to Qatar from South Korea. There will be no sanctions from the U.S., and all Iran has to do is pinky promise to withdraw funds only for humanitarian needs.
Moreover, Congress was given this information on the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. "He had the audacity to announce this terrible deal today, September 11th," Trump pointed out.
"To pay for hostages will lead to kidnapping, ransom, and blackmail against Americans across the globe. I freed many dozens of our people from various unfriendly countries and never paid a dime!" Trump concluded.
The former president gave some examples of the deals he brokered for American prisoners in subsequent posts. One of those included Andrew Brunson, an evangelical pastor who spent two years as a prisoner in Turkey.
He and 57 others who were detained were released with "ZERO money" to their captors. Trump said Biden set a "TERRIBLE precedent" with his latest deal and believes Biden should be removed using the 25th Amendment.
The law would allow a majority of the president’s cabinet, along with the vice president, or another panel "approved by law," to remove Biden. This option has been bandied about in the past but has never been activated.
Trump summarized the deal and speculated on Biden’s motivation for giving away the store like that. "So, let's get this straight! We did a hostage TRADE with Iran," Trump posted.
"We gave them 5 very tough, smart people that they desperately wanted. We likewise got back 5 people BUT, we also gave them 6 BILLION DOLLARS!" the former president continued.
"How much of a kickback does Crooked Joe Biden get?" Trump said. The administration claims the deal was necessary and that the U.S. will oversee the disbursement of the funds.
Trump is correct that this is once again a terrible deal for America and, indeed, sets a dangerous precedent. America’s enemies are watching, and what they’re seeing is that Biden will pay them off instead of showing strength and resolve like his predecessor.
