Don Jr. Blasts DOJ for Revealing Letter Allegedly Offering Bounty on Trump

Donald Trump Jr. recently voiced outrage over the Biden-Harris Justice Department's release of a letter allegedly written by Ryan Wesley Routh, which details a plot to assassinate former President Donald Trump. The letter also includes a financial incentive, placing a bounty on Trump’s life.

Breitbart reported that the letter, which was reportedly received months ago but opened after a failed assassination attempt on September 14, has sparked controversy and criticism toward the federal government.

The letter, purportedly from Routh, explicitly confirms that his actions were part of an assassination attempt on Trump.

Additionally, it offers $150,000 to anyone who is able to carry out the task. This revelation has not only disturbed Trump's family but also highlighted ongoing concerns about the transparency of federal authorities in releasing such information.

Letter Allegedly Details Assassination Plot

The contents of the letter are chilling. In it, Routh apologizes for his failure in the attempt, writing, “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I am so sorry I failed you.” He continues, expressing his determination to see the plan through, stating, “It is up to you now to finish the job, and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job.”

The letter further criticizes Trump, claiming that people worldwide view him as unfit for the presidency. According to Routh, a U.S. president should represent the moral fabric of the country, a quality he asserts Trump lacks.

Routh’s letter only came to light after a witness, who had received a box containing the letter months prior, decided to open it after the second assassination attempt on Trump in mid-September. This incident has also prompted an investigation in Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis has expressed his frustration with the lack of federal cooperation.

Governor DeSantis stated, “This guy, Ryan Routh, committed potential violations of Florida law. So, we have a duty to investigate this. We have a duty to bring the appropriate charges.”

The investigation has been handed over to Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Office of Statewide Prosecutor, which is now responsible for reviewing Routh’s actions under state law.

Concerns Over DOJ’s Delayed Response

Critics, including Donald Trump Jr., have pointed out that the Justice Department’s decision to release the letter only after months of delay raises serious concerns. Trump Jr. publicly expressed his disbelief, asking, “WTF!? Why is Kamala’s DOJ publicizing Ryan Wesley Routh putting a bounty on my dad’s head???”

The timing of the letter’s release has also renewed conversations about the Department of Justice’s historically slow response to releasing manifestos and other documents from suspects involved in politically charged crimes.

The lack of immediate action, particularly in light of Routh’s clear intentions, has further fueled tensions between the federal government and local authorities in Florida.

As the investigation moves forward, Governor DeSantis has made it clear that Florida will not be waiting on the federal government to act. He emphasized that the state has a responsibility to investigate any potential crimes under its jurisdiction, regardless of the federal government’s involvement.

DeSantis added, “We have a duty to inform the public about how this happened,” pointing to the seriousness of the situation and the need for greater transparency from federal agencies. His remarks highlight the growing divide between Florida’s state government and federal authorities over the handling of this case.

Florida Takes Charge of Investigation

With the state of Florida now leading its own investigation, Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office will be at the forefront of examining Routh’s actions. DeSantis’ decision to involve the Office of Statewide Prosecutor underscores the importance of state-level involvement in the case, especially given the potential violations of Florida law.

The investigation into Routh’s failed assassination attempt and the potential threats outlined in his letter is still ongoing. Meanwhile, questions remain about how federal authorities handled the initial discovery of the letter and why it was not acted upon earlier.

As more details about the assassination plot emerge, the public debate over the Justice Department’s role in the matter continues to grow. Trump supporters have been vocal in their concerns about the timing of the letter’s release, accusing the DOJ of withholding critical information.

At the same time, others are calling for a more in-depth investigation into how federal and state authorities are coordinating their efforts in cases involving high-profile political figures.

The release of the letter has opened up broader conversations about the nature of threats against political figures, the role of the Justice Department, and the responsibilities of state governments to protect their citizens and elected officials.
