Scott Adams is the creator of the cartoon strip Dilbert, and he just used that fame to his advantage.
Adams is suffering from prostate cancer, so he took a flyer and reached out to Trump for help.
Trump saw the plea, told Adams he was “on it,” and now Adams believes that Trump will likely have saved his life if he gets the treatment.
Adams posted to X on Sunday morning, writing, in part, “My healthcare provider, Kaiser of Northern California, has approved my application to receive a newly FDA-approved drug called Pluvicto.
“But they have dropped the ball in scheduling the brief IV to administer it and I can’t seem to fix that. I am declining fast.
“I will ask President Trump if he can get Kaiser of Northern California to respond and schedule it for Monday.
“That will give me a fighting chance to stick around on this planet a little bit longer. It is not a cure, but it does give good results to many people.”
Sometimes it is not what you know, but who you know, and that would appear to be the case here.
After Adams dropped his message, Trump posted later on Sunday, “On it!”
When the White House was asked about the reply, HHS Secretary Kennedy responded, “The President wants to help.”
According to Novartis NOVN.S, which makes Pluvicto, the drug reduces the risk of death in patients by 28%.
Adams explained how this has all played out, stating, “I don’t know who [Trump] talked to first, but I feel like a lot of things went in motion at the same time. So I was contacted by Don [Trump] Jr., who is literally in Africa … saying, ‘I’m on this. My father wants me to get this done.’
“Then [Health and Human Services Secretary] Bobby Kennedy [Jr.] calls me … ‘What can I do? What’s the situation?’ [Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator] Dr. [Mehmet] Oz calls me … ‘What’s the situation? How can I help?’ Oh, my God.'”
He continued, “He was so on it … it turns out that nobody in senior management at Kaiser, my healthcare company, had a good weekend … I feel bad about it, but good about it, because it might have saved my life. I mean, there’s a very good chance.”
I am kind of mixed about this. On one hand, I am glad Adams is getting the help he needs. On the other hand, I wonder how Donald Trump would react if I posted that I needed help with a medical treatment on X. Would I get the same response? If not, yeah, I have a problem with this.
