Kristi Noem, our Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, is back in the headlines, but this time it is due to a medical emergency.
Noem has been in the news more often than not as of late, having been robbed, a conflict with a Democrat Senator, and now a medical emergency.
Last week, the news cycle blew up after Senator Padilla (D-CA) was forcibly removed from a press conference being given by Noem.
In my opinion, this was all staged by Padilla, who was not wearing his Senate pin, and he clearly had not identified himself to Noem’s security detail prior to the press conference, either of which would have avoided this mess.
From the videos I saw, Padilla approached the podium shouting a question, at which point security intervened.
Padilla could then be heard saying he was a Senator, but at this point, the security detail had only one concern, and that was removing the possible threat.
Noem was also the victim of a purse snatching over the Easter holiday, having her purse stolen from under her chair while she was dining with family.
The DHS boss reportedly had about $3,000 in cash to pay for dinner and buy gifts for her grandchildren, as well as her ID, including her DHS badge, keys, medication, and all the usual stuff.
Noem had stated that she felt the thief move her bag, but she mistook it for one of the kids playing with her and did not realize she was being robbed at the time.
This is very much relative to the Padilla story in that agents never should have let that man get that close to Noem, so they were clearly playing it extra cautiously during the press conference.
In the latest drama around Noem, she was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after she suffered an allergic reaction.
It was not made clear what triggered the reaction, and with the way things are, I highly doubt that information will be made public to protect Noem’s health.
Bruce LeVell, former Executive Director of President Donald Trump's National Diversity Coalition, responded to the news, stating, "My dear friend @Sec_Noem, our fearless Secretary of Homeland Security, was just rushed to the hospital.
“My heart is with her during this challenging time, but I know her strength and determination will shine through. Please join me in keeping Kristi in your prayers for a swift and full recovery.”
