Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) began his quest for the White House on a strong footing, despite some early hiccups in his 2024 campaign launch.
However, somewhere along the line, that changed in a big way. DeSantis went from polling not insanely far behind former President Donald Trump to being trounced by some 50 points in some polls.
One major issue plaguing the governor's struggling campaign is a high level of staff and Super PAC resignations and shake-ups that add almost insurmountable weight to the campaign efforts.
According to JustTheNews, the latest departure from Team DeSantis included campaign strategist Jeff Roe, who abruptly resigned from the governor's Super PAC after a damaging Washington Post story.
Roe announced his departure from the Super PAC in an X post, citing the Post story that he claims was untrue, adding that it was too much of a distraction for him to carry on with his responsibilities to the campaign.
"I can’t believe it ended this way. I’m so proud to have worked alongside these men and women at NBD 24/7 the past nine months to save the country. Good luck the next 28 days and a wake up. I’m so sorry I can’t be there with you," Roe wrote.

The story that resulted in his resignation was with regard to Roe's firm and reported tensions with DeSantis' Never Back Down Super PAC.
JustTheNews noted:
The statements Roe was referring to were those sent to the Post "suggesting the group fired officials connected to Roe’s firm over 'mismanagement and conduct issues.'"
Roe vehemently denied the report's accuracy, and praised DeSantis while hoping for the best for his campaign in the 2024 election cycle.
“They are not true and an unwanted distraction at a critical time for Governor DeSantis. I am resigning my position effective immediately,” Roe wrote in his statement.
He added, "Governor DeSantis has been an exceptional governor and I hope he will be the 47th President of the United States. I wish the Governor, First Lady, and their entire team the best through the rest of the campaign."
The staff shake-ups at the governor's Super PAC continue to haunt his campaign. It was noted that there have been three CEOs of the Super PAC in roughly a one-month period, and numerous top officials resigning, including Roe.
Only time will tell if the Florida governor will be able to recover lost ground.
