DeSantis ends rumors of being Haley’s running mate

During this election cycle, there were more or less two schools of thought regarding Nikki Haley's candidacy.

The first was that she was a Trump operative, who received Trump's blessing, by the way, to siphon votes away from Ron DeSantis to make it easier for Trump to win in exchange for a high-ranking cabinet position.

The second, which did not develop until later in the cycle, has just been put to bed.

DeSantis Says No

As this campaign progressed, Nikki Haley started to gain momentum while lobbing some attacks against Trump.

Suddenly, there was the narrative that if Haley and DeSantis joined forces, and did it early, announcing a DeSantis-Haley ticket, they could collectively take Trump out. And I have to admit, I fell for it as well.

As Haley started to get more momentum, she started launching attacks against DeSantis, and it was clear she had no intention of partnering with DeSantis to form a super-ticket for the election.

If there were any remaining thoughts that this could happen, Ron DeSantis just ended them.

On whether he would partner with Haley, DeSantis made it quite clear that is not in the cards.

He stated, "Well, I can tell you, I am not going to accept that under any circumstances. You know, I'm running for president because I think we need somebody that can win and get the job done.

"I would much rather do my final two years as governor, 2025 and 26, than be vice president. I don't think it's a position that offers much, I want to make an impact."

On a different note, Haley was recently asked if she would consider being Donald Trump's vice president, and Haley refused to rule it out, which has revived the idea of her being a Trump operative to take out DeSantis in this election.

We need to go all the way back to when Haley was making her decision to run. She had already gone on the record to say that she would not run if Trump were in the race, then she met with Trump and asked for his blessing to run.

And even though Haley has surged, Trump continues his non-stop attacks against DeSantis instead of Haley. She may not be Trump's VP because of the resistance to Haley inside his camp, but if she is not his VP, don't be surprised to see her show as his Secretary of State of another high-ranking Cabinet position.
