Kilmar Abrego Garcia is now the poster boy for the Democrats to rail against the bad orange man, but a very interesting report just surfaced.
With another handful of Democrat traveling to El Salvador to advocate for his release, a report showed up that they are staying in some pretty nice digs, making this appear to more of a taxpayer-funded vacation than anything else.
Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) got this little party started by traveling to El Salvador last month to meet with Garcia.
If you recall, Garcia is the illegal immigrant who had a protection order to prevent him from being deported to El Salvador, but the Trump administration sent him there with about 300 alleged gang members.
Garcia looked perfectly fine during the trip, which was taxpayer-funded, by the way, something that was revealed after Van Hollen made the trip.
After meeting with Garcia, Van Hollen wrote, “I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.”
This narrative that Garcia is an upstanding young man and should be brought home has gained steam, even to the point that Democrat strategist James Carville believes this should be a rallying cry for the party.
He stated, “People say, ‘Well, should we really fight on this turf or should we fight more on ordinary people?’ This we should fight on. You can’t pivot to an economic issue. This is why we think we’re a country.”
He later added, “There’s real wisdom in that and history has taught us that. First, they came for him, and then we’re going to say no right there. We got to keep fighting this. I think this is worthy of being at the top agenda of things that we’re going to fight over is get this guy back home.”
I really believe this is something that could come back to crush Democrats, especially with the most recent reports about Garcia. I am shocked that Carville believes this is a hill worth dying on.
Reps. Maxwell Frost (D-FL), Robert Garcia (D-CA), Maxine Dexter (D-OR), and Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) recently traveled to El Salvador to advocate for the release of Garcia, but it does not seem as simple as that.
The Democrats all stayed at the Hilton San Salvador, one of the more luxury hotels in the area. Standard rooms are nearly $200 per night, and the next level of rooms are in the $250 range, so this is not a cheap hotel by any means.
When you add in the location, which has a stunning view of the city’s landscape, this appears to be more of a vacation than a quest to get Garcia free. To that point, National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson Ben Petersen stated, “House Democrats booked their tropical vacation to El Salvador in the lap of luxury. While the American people suffer the consequences of the Biden Border Crisis importing illegal immigrant crime and fentanyl, these Democrats demonstrated again they are completely out of touch with voters.”
These Democrats traveling to El Salvador is nothing but an expensive publicity stunt, a stunt for which the American taxpayer is now footing the bill. It’s theater, my friends… that is all it really ever is.
