'Days of Our Lives' star Cody Longo's cause of death revealed

Cody Longo's cause of death has been revealed following an autopsy conducted on the Days of Our Lives actor. Documents obtained by TMZ indicate that Longo died as a result of alcohol abuse, specifically attributed to 'chronic ethanol abuse.'

The autopsy report also revealed that Longo's body had already begun decomposing by the time it was discovered, with the room littered with empty alcohol bottles, as The Daily Mail reported.

Tragedy struck on February 8 when police in Austin, Texas responded to a welfare check request from Longo's wife, Stephanie, and discovered his lifeless body. The news sent shockwaves through the industry and among his loved ones.

Longo's widow took to Instagram on Father's Day to pay tribute to him, sharing heartfelt photos of him with their three children - Lyla, seven, Elijah, five, and Noah, two.

In her emotional Instagram stories, she wrote, 'Celebrating Cody in heaven. Thankful for the beautiful moments we created and the beautiful babies we created.'

While Longo gained recognition for his brief portrayal of Nicholas Alamain in the popular soap opera Days of Our Lives in 2011, his career in the entertainment industry began with appearances in several music videos.

He made his film debut in 2008 with the feature Ball Don't Lie, paving the way for subsequent appearances on the small screen. Longo landed supporting roles in films like Fame and Bring It On: Fight to the Finish.

However, it was his role as Eddie Duran in the family drama series Hollywood Heights, which aired in 2012, that earned him significant acclaim. Alongside co-stars Brittany Underwood and Melissa Ordway, Longo shone in the program, appearing in 78 out of the show's 80 episodes. Hollywood Heights concluded its run in 2012, and Longo ventured into various small television roles and films.

Despite his accomplishments, Longo's personal struggles were known to those close to him. According to a family member, the actor had battled alcohol abuse for many years and had recently sought help through rehabilitation.

His wife expressed profound grief over their loss, emphasizing his exceptional qualities as a father and husband and describing their world as shattered.

Born on March 4, 1988, in Littleton, Colorado, Longo possessed immense talent and potential. His contributions to the entertainment industry extended beyond his screen appearances. Longo had also lent his voice to the 2020 Apple Podcast series High School Crimes & Misdemeanors.

Unfortunately, in 2020, Longo faced legal issues that tarnished his reputation. He was arrested on a domestic assault charge and later plead guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge related to the alleged sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl. These incidents further complicated an already troubled period in his life.

At the time of his death, Longo was actively involved in the production of the David Moreton-helmed feature Do You Want to Die in Indio? The film marked another opportunity for him to showcase his talent and reignite his career.

Cody Longo's untimely death due to alcohol abuse has left a void in the entertainment industry. It serves as a stark reminder of the personal battles individuals face behind the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

Longo's diverse career and the impact he made in the roles he portrayed will be remembered, alongside the complex and challenging journey he experienced throughout his life.
