David Axelrod says new Biden polling numbers are a 'legitimate concern'

President Joe Biden might finally have to face the music.

According to the Washington Examiner, growing chatter, and statements from high-profile Democratic players, has signaled that many in the Democratic Party are finally ready to admit that Biden isn't their best shot at keeping the White House in 2024.

David Axelrod, a former chief strategist for Barack Obama's presidential campaigns and a heavy-hitting Democratic operative, stunned the media this week with his comments regarding Biden's future.

Axelrod sounded the alarms this week after new polling data clearly shows Biden struggling against former President Donald Trump in the 2024 general election.

He noted that the polling shows "legitimate concern," and went as far as questioning whether or not Biden should be the Democratic Party's choice candidate for the election.

"It's very late to change horses; a lot will happen in the next year that no one can predict & Biden's team says his resolve to run is firm. He's defied CW before but this will send tremors of doubt thru the party--not "bed-wetting," but legitimate concern," Axelrod wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He continued his analysis in several follow-up posts.

"The @POTUS is justly proud of his accomplishments. Trump is a dangerous, unhinged demagogue whose brazen disdain for the rules, norms, laws and institutions or democracy should be disqualifying. But the stakes of miscalculation here are too dramatic to ignore," he wrote.

In another post, Axelrod wrote dropped the bomb, calling out Biden's actual chances of claiming victory in the general election.

"Only @JoeBiden can make this decision. If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it's in HIS best interest or the country's?" he wrote.

New polls have also shown Biden losing key support from Hispanic and Black voters, which also spells trouble for not only Biden, but down the ticket.

Trump remains the clear frontrunner for the GOP nomination, and has bested Biden in several hypothetical matchup polls in recent weeks.
