Comer says key detail in the testimony of a whistleblower confirmed by former FBI agent who worked on the Hunter Biden investigation

Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) asserts that a former FBI agent assigned to the Hunter Biden investigation has confirmed a key aspect of the whistleblower's testimony.

Monday, Comer who chairs the House Oversight Committee, announced that a former FBI supervisory special agent assigned to the Hunter Biden criminal investigation has confirmed several crucial aspects of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblower's June testimony.

According to a report by The Daily caller, a transcript of an interview conducted by the House Oversight Committee on Monday, the former agent stated that the Biden family and the Secret Service were informed of the December 2020 interview the FBI intended to conduct with Hunter Biden.

In late June, after being charged with two misdemeanor tax offenses and illegal possession of a firearm, Biden engaged into a plea agreement.

Gary Shapley, an IRS whistleblower, previously claimed that the Department of Justice "slow-walked" the U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware's investigation into Hunter Biden, describing the protocol violation as "far outside the norm."

The former agent also stated that the FBI was instructed not to approach Hunter Biden until he notified them that he was prepared for the interview, which he never did, thus the interview was never conducted.

Comer issued a statement on Monday following the interview of the former FBI agent by the House Oversight Committee.

“Today, a former FBI supervisory special agent assigned to the FBI’s Wilmington office and the Biden criminal investigation confirmed key portions of the IRS whistleblower’s testimony,” Comer said in the statement.

“The night before the interview of Hunter Biden, both Secret Service headquarters and the Biden transition team were tipped off about the planned interview.”

According to the testimony of an IRS whistleblower in late June 2019, the FBI knew in 2019 that Hunter Biden's laptop was authentic. According to the testimony of a second IRS whistleblower, Biden evaded taxes by routing funds from Burisma through a Chinese company in 2014.

“On the day of the Hunter Biden interview, federal agents were told to stand by and could not approach Hunter Biden—they had to wait for his call," said Comer.

"As a result of the change in plans, IRS and FBI criminal investigators never got to interview Hunter Biden as part of the investigation."

Comer criticized the Justice Department for its "two-tiered system of justice" and pledged that the Oversight and Judiciary Committees would continue their investigation.

“The Justice Department’s efforts to cover up for the Bidens reveals a two-tiered system of justice that sickens the American people,” Comer said. “The Oversight Committee, along with the Judiciary Committee and Ways and Means Committee, will continue to seek the answers, transparency, and accountability that the American people demand and deserve.”
