Comer claims to have leads on $10M in Biden bribery investigation

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) claims that he has leads on tracing $10 million in bribes related to Hunter Biden.

The payment is related to an FBI form released by Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) in July.

The details

"In the document, a confidential FBI informant told the bureau that Mykola Zlochevsky — the head of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company where Hunter Biden sat on the board — had allegedly claimed he had funneled $5 million to Joe Biden when he was vice president and $5 million to Hunter Biden in an alleged exchange for pressuring the Ukrainian government to fire Viktor Shokin, the country's lead prosecutor who was believed to be investigating Burisma," according to the Washington Examiner.

“We do have leads. We believe and suspect that there are offshore accounts,” Comer told Hannity.

Proving Biden wrong

“I want to go back to where we were in January when we started this investigation. This was the narrative: the President’s son’s laptop was Russian disinformation; Hunter Biden was a legitimate business guy, just like Jared Kushner; No Biden ever took money from China — that’s what Joe Biden said; No money ever changed hands while Joe Biden was Vice President; Joe knew nothing about his son’s dealings; And Joe never met with or spoke with any of the foreign nationals who had wired the family money," Comer said in a statement on Wednesday.

“All of those things have been proven wrong because of the Republican majority and our investigation," he added.

Maybe $20 million?

In August, Comer noted an investigation into the Biden family could lead to as much as $20 million in bribery-related payments.

“During Joe Biden’s vice presidency, Hunter Biden sold him as ‘the brand’ to reap millions from oligarchs in Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine. It appears no real services were provided other than access to the Biden network, including Joe Biden himself,” Comer said in a statement last month.

“And Hunter Biden seems to have delivered. This is made clear by meals at Café Milano where then-Vice President Joe Biden dined with oligarchs from around the world who had sent money to his son,” he added.

The investigation has now become part of the push for an impeachment inquiry against Biden launched this week in the GOP-led House.

The investigation is likely to discover more in the investigation as it seeks more details in the bribery scandal.
