Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold backs down and restores Trump to the ballot

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold has reluctantly allowed former President Trump to remain on the state's ballot, Mediate reported. Earlier this month, the state's supreme court ruled him ineligible to run based on the 14th Amendment.

The Democratic official said she agreed with the court's ruling to throw him off of the primary ballot for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 riot that the left has labeled an "insurrection." However, Griswold said that unless the U.S. Supreme Court  upheld the lower court's ruling, it was necessary to include him in the election.

Griswold's office explained that Anderson v. Griswold will likely be reviewed for appeal at the nation's high court. Therefore, unless the U.S. Supreme Court upholds the ruling or refuses to take the case, "Trump will be included as a candidate on Colorado’s 2024 Presidential Primary Ballot when certification occurs on January 5, 2024," Griswold's office said in a statement.

"Donald Trump engaged in insurrection and was disqualified under the Constitution from the Colorado Ballot," Griswold claimed on her own X account. "The Colorado Supreme Court got it right," she added.

"This decision is now being appealed. I urge the U.S. Supreme Court to act quickly given the upcoming presidential primary election," Griswold said.

The state's high court ruled that Trump was ineligible in accordance with Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution's 14th Amendment. The amendment states that any official who "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" cannot run for high office.

Trump has never been charged with or convicted of any charges of insurrection. However, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled to throw him out of the primary race just the same.

The former president rightly called this effort a "pathetic gambit to rig the Election" to make sure Trump could not be president again. Trump said this while commenting on a similar case in Michigan.

The Michigan Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that it would not remove Trump from the ballot, The Hill reported. Trump celebrated this decision while admonishing Colorado for taking the opposite approach.

"The Michigan Supreme Court has strongly and rightfully denied the Desperate Democrat attempt to take the leading Candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election, me, off the ballot in the Great State of Michigan. This pathetic gambit to rig the Election has failed all across the Country, including in States that have historically leaned heavily toward the Democrats," Trump posted to TruthSocial.

The Michigan Supreme Court, which is controlled by Democrats, recognized that this legal question was not within its jurisdiction. The judges agreed they were "not persuaded that the questions presented should be reviewed by this Court."

Trump asserted on TruthSocial that this effort is a continuation of previous schemes to keep him out of office. "We have to prevent the 2024 Election from being Rigged and Stolen like they stole 2020 – just look at the complete mess we have as a result with Crooked Joe Biden violently destroying everything in his sight, from our once-great Economy to our once-fair Justice System," he said.

"We have to save our Country from decline and the Radical Left,” Trump added. This recent ruling in Colorado allowing Trump to remain on the ballot will certainly go a long way to making that happen.

The left is throwing as many roadblocks in front of Trump as they can. Still, he remains a popular candidate whom the American people trust over these kangaroo courts and biased media, and that's what scares the left the most.
