Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson hospitalized for panic attacks

The mayor of Chicago, Illinois, has been hospitalized.

According to the Chicago City Wire, Mayor Brandon Johnson's (D) hospitalization is the result of panic attacks.

The outlet reports:

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is “stressed out” and has been admitted to the hospital for panic attacks. That’s according to veteran Chicago journalists John Kass and Anita Padilla, who discussed Johnson’s panic attacks on an episode of WGN-AM’s Chicago Way Podcast.

The outlet goes on to provide some quotations from the podcast. Kass, one of the journalists, is reported to have said, "The mayor’s panic attacks? Can we talk about that? No amount of anti-depressants can cure him of (Chicago’s illegal alien) problem."

Padilla, the other journalist, followed up by saying, "Two sources told me that he has been in the hospital for these panic attacks. He is stressed out. This is a big, big job for him. He’s not ready for it. He’s not a leader. I’m sorry. This immigration issue is not helping him at all."

Johnson became the mayor of Chicago in April 2023, replacing Lori Lightfoot. So, he has been at the job for less than a year. But, apparently, the city's problems have already gotten to him.

Kass and Padilla specifically suggested that it is the city's immigration problem that has really gotten to Johnson. Chicago is one of the northern state cities that has been hit the hardest by illegal immigration, along with New York.

Chicago, of course, is a long way from the U.S.-Mexico border, but Texas, among other states, has transported some of its illegal immigration population to Chicago.

Texas did so because Chicago, in the past, has claimed to be a so-called sanctuary city for such immigrants, a place where illegal immigrants can take refuge from the country's immigration laws. In essence, Texas asked Chicago to put its money where its mouth is.

Now, however, Chicago is learning the hard way why illegal immigration should not be allowed. The city, under Johnson, is realizing that it simply does not have the resources to take care of the illegal immigrant population.

The situation is particularly problematic at this time of year, when it gets extremely cold in Chicago, with temperatures well below zero.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) recently said, "Here in Illinois, it’s minus 29 degrees outside with the windchill,” he said. “We have migrants that arrive from Texas virtually every day, hundreds, and we don’t have places to put them."

He added, "We don’t have enough shelter space here."

If what Kass and Padilla say is true, then this is, at least, part of what contributed to Johnson's hospitalization.
