Chicago Alderman blames IL Gov. JB Pritzker for attacks on law enforcement

Chicago has become a political hot potato, and one Democrat in office there is sick of the status quo.

Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez is now blaming the raised temperature in the city squarely on the state's governor.

This comes on the heels of Donald Trump, once again, meeting with opposition from a judge who has now limited the tactics being used by federal agents working to keep the peace.

Ignore the call

I still remember the breaking news alert coming over my phone last week when ICE agents were boxed in by protesters-turned-rioters outside of Chicago.

One car was rammed, and at least one of the protesters was found to have been armed, leading to agents firing their weapons in defense.

No agents were harmed, but one protester was shot and medically treated, with multiple arrests also made as a result of the incident.

What was even more worrisome was a report that local police were ordered to stand down when calls for help came from the ICE agents.

Judge blocks Trump

Trump could not get Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to activate the Illinois National Guard, so Texas Gov. Greg Abbott offered the Texas National Guard to help.

Trump then sent the Texas-based troops to Illinois to help restore order and protect federal agents.

The president is being challenged on that move, but a judge has also ordered federal agents to dial down their tactics used in crowd-control situations, more or less handcuffing the agents.

That order was made after a video surfaced of a pastor being shot with pepper spray, and it will be in effect for 14 days, prohibiting the federal agents from ordering a crowd to disperse or “requiring any person to leave a public place that they lawfully have a right to be.”

It’s on Pritzker

Lopez must plan on either flipping sides or not running for office again, because he has been dropping bombshells on Pritzker in recent days.

During his latest interview, he stated, “All of this rhetoric is adding fuel to the fire for those individuals who think it’s their right to attack law enforcement, who think it’s their right to destroy our cities, who think it’s their right to dictate what laws we should and should not follow in this country."

He continued, “For people like Gov. Pritzker and Brandon Johnson, it’s disgusting to hear them talk. Because, at the end of the day, these are our fellow Americans that we’re allowing to be abused, attacked, and in some cases, even trying to see the protesters kill -- with bounties from the cartel -- simply for doing their job. That is what is un-American. That is what is unacceptable. And shame on any leader, Democrat or Republican, who espouses these views.”

I am glad to see a Democrat not sticking up for criminals and illegals, and I hope more come forward to do the same. I mean, a New York Democrat recently stated that he saw no signs of violence against federal agents, and this was after the agents were boxed in at a Chicago suburb. Sadly, in a city like Chicago and a state like Illinois, none of that matters because most of the voters are zombies, trained to pull the lever with a “D” next to it.
