The internet blew up this week over sickening texts by Virginia AG candidate Jay Jones, a Democrat.
In his texts, he literally wished for the death of the GOP state Speaker and his children.
Yet, for some reason, Democrats continue to support him.
The GOP is pummeling Jones with ads to make sure that voters know just how sick the man who wants to be the top law enforcement officer in the state really is.
How can you put away criminals when you advocate for gun violence? How can anyone possibly be the Attorney General when he is literally hoping for the death of his political rivals and their children?
In one ad, the narrator states, "Jay Jones says he wants to put two bullets in a political opponent," and it then states, "Jones says he hopes an opponent’s children die.”
Former member of Congress from Virginia's 7th District, Abigail Spanberger, a gubernatorial candidate, continues to support him, so she is now also taking hits. While some Dems have criticized Jones, they are all coming up short of demanding he leave the race (he had a six-point lead before this scandal).
Virginia Beach Democrats have also come out in support of Jones, refusing to disavow him after those sickening comments.
The group stated, “Recent press may have spotlighted past mistakes. We say, let those without sin cast the first stone.”
Now, just imagine if Trump had texts like that on his phone about someone like Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, or Barack Obama.
How long would it be before the Democrats and media ran him out of town? But Dems love the hypocrisy because it is about obtaining power at all costs in that party.
If Jones had more time, this might die down, but with only weeks away from the election, I don’t see how he saves his campaign.
Internal polling has shown that his big lead is now down to about a point, and I am sure that ad blitz will hit him even harder by the time election day comes around.
The pollster explained, “Jay’s image has suffered some erosion during the events of the last few days; when asked their impressions of Jay based on what they had read, seen, or heard recently, fully 44% of voters say they feel LESS favorable toward him, compared to 12% more favorable.”
Republican incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares has to pounce on this and destroy Jones if he wants to keep that office in the hands of the GOP. There is just too much at stake, so now is the time to make the people of Virginia fully aware of this animal and what he truly thinks about people and their children. His texts are sickening, and there is no apology that can make this right.
