Trent Staggs setting himself up as the America First replacement for Mitt Romney

Utah Senate Republican candidate Trent Staggs told Breitbart News that he is giving the people of Utah a choice to replace Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) with himself and reinforce the America First agenda.

Staggs has set himself up as a fierce advocate of former President Donald Trump's ideas which draws a sharp contrast to Romney who is practically a Democrat at this point.

Romney was one of Trump's greatest enemies in the Republican Party besides former Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Staggs hopes to finally fill Romney's seat with someone who can be counted on to support Trump's agenda.

Romney recently announced that he will not seek reelection which leaves Staggs with a strong shot at winning the election which is in a solid red state.

Having another America First Senator will be a massive win for Donald Trump and ensure less division in the Republican Party.

Solidifying Senate

Getting rid of Mitt Romney has been a priority for many Republicans for years following Romney's open feuding with Trump.

Staggs told Breitbart News that "Mitt Romney was a vote that essentially canceled [Senator] Mike Lee’s on major important issues." Now instead of losing an entire state, Republicans can count on two votes in an evenly split Senate.

Staggs has the record and the credentials to be a force in the Senate for Americans and his path there is clear with Romney no longer seeking reelection.

Staggs has branded himself as one of the “best advocates in supporting an America First agenda," so who better to replace one of the greatest enemies to the America First agenda.

Critical race

Staggs will still face serious competition to replace Romney as other Republicans have their eye on the open Senate seat.

Republican Utah House Speaker Brad Wilson announced that he would run for Romney's seat in November which sets up a contentious fight in between him and Staggs.

Damon Cann, head of Utah State University’s political science department, analyzed Wilson's profile saying, "I think most people are expecting Brad Wilson would govern somewhat more conservatively. I think he would be toward the political center from where Mike Lee’s at but I think he would be more conservative than Mitt Romney has been."

Wilson isn't as outspoken as Staggs about his support of Donald Trump, he does seem to be onboard with the America First agenda.

Nonetheless, whoever comes out on top will be a better ally to the conservative movement then Mitt Romney ever was.
