Brazilian fitness influencer dies at 33-years-old

A Brazilian fitness instructor and influencer has passed away at the age of only 33.

Larissa Borges's family announced Borges's death on her Instagram page on Monday.

The family wrote, in part: "The pain of losing someone so young, just 33 years old, and so kind, is overwhelming. Our hearts are broken, and the longing we will feel is indescribable."

At the time of this writing, the cause of Borges's death is unknown. But, it is known that her death was precipitated by a double cardiac arrest.

The New York Post reports:

According to local media, the Federal District native had been hospitalized on August 20th after suffering from cardiac arrest while traveling in Gramado. Borges subsequently went into a coma, where she remained for a week while her family provided updates on her condition on social media.

Then, Borges suffered a second cardiac arrest. And, it was this second cardiac arrest that ultimately ended up taking her life.

Borges's family said that she "fought courageously" to the end.

Although the cause of Borges's death remains unknown, local officials have suggested that various substances may have played a role. This suggestion appears to have come from a preliminary investigation that was conducted.

Deputy Gustavo Barcellos said:

There is a report of a possible ingestion of narcotic substances accumulated with alcoholic beverages. The body was sent for necropsy. We will try to search through laboratory tests for substances that she possibly consumed.

Borges, prior to her death, had been making a name for herself as a social media influencer on Instagram. At the time of her passing, she had amassed about 33,000 followers.

Borges's Instagram posts mostly focused on lifestyle, travel, and fitness. In many of her posts, she can be seen showing off her fit physique, particularly while on poster-card-type vacations. The Post reports:

In one of her final snaps before her death, the exercise enthusiast could be seen posing in a winter coat at an indoor ski park. The caption read: “I can believe in tomorrow.”

In their Instagram post, Borges's family wrote:

She was known for her captivating personality, always bring smiles to those around her. Her presence illuminated any environment and her contagious energy will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Borges's family said that the influencer's legacy will be a legacy of "love, joy, and determination."

"May your soul rest in peace and may your memory always be remembered with affection and gratitude," the family wrote.
