A billionaire Palestinian American developer is out at Harvard.
The man, Bashar Masri, is facing horrifying allegations regarding a possible support role for Hamas.
Oct.7, 2023, will go down as possibly the second-most horrific event in history against the Jewish people.
Nearly 1,200 people were killed when Hamas invaded Israel, most of them civilians, with a death toll that included women and children, even toddlers.
Hundreds of innocents were also taken as hostages, with dozens of women paraded around through the streets, raped, abused, and some murdered.
This war has created division in this country between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian groups.
Masri is a prominent businessman who also happened to serve on the dean’s council at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
This week, some rather disturbing allegations were made against the man.
A lawsuit was filed in D.C. this week, accusing Masri of having supported Hamas during its attacks against Israel.
Among other claims, the suit alleged that Masri “owned, developed and controlled, including two luxury hotels and the leading industrial zone in Gaza -- the Gaza Industrial Estate -- concealed tunnels underneath them, and had tunnel entrances accessible from within the properties, which Hamas used in terrorist operations before, on and after October 7th.”
Masri claimed the allegations against him were baseless, yet he announced that he would be stepping down from his role at the Ivy League school.
A spokesperson for the school stated, “Mr. Masri has resigned from the Dean’s Council. The lawsuit raises serious allegations that should be vetted and addressed through the legal process.”
The suit continued, “Defendants provided services that legitimized Hamas and gave its operations under and within Defendants’ properties greater protection from Israeli and U.S. action.” Masri’s office responded, “Neither he nor those entities have ever engaged in unlawful activity or provided support for violence and militancy. Bashar Masri has been involved in development and humanitarian work for the past decades.”
This is not exactly good news for the Trump administration, which has been consulting with Masri about plans for Gaza after the war is over. The Trump administration has not yet responded to the allegations, but I would imagine Democrats and the mainstream media are chomping at the bit to go after Trump on this. This is definitely a case we need to keep our eyes on to see how the charges pan out and if they are, in fact, baseless. But if those charges get grip, Trump will have to answer to everyone about why he would not vet someone who was clearly going to play a major role in the rebuilding of Gaza after the war.
