Biden took to MSNBC's "Morning Joe" to reiterate his commitment to staying in the race. In his appearance, he stated, “The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now. And it’s time for it to end.” He emphasized that any lack of clarity or weakening of resolve only helps Trump and hurts the Democratic cause.
First Lady Jill Biden has also been active in supporting her husband's reelection bid, campaigning in three states and focusing on veterans and military families. Jill Biden asserted, “For all the talk out there about this race, Joe has made it clear that he’s all in. That’s the decision that he’s made, and just as he has always supported my career, I am all in, too.”
A recent New York Times/Siena College poll showed that Democratic voters were split on Biden's candidacy. Despite this, Biden has received key support from lawmakers such as Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, who emphasized the need to focus on defeating Trump. Rep. Maxine Waters voiced her support, stating, “Opponents of Biden can speak for themselves or what they want to do, but I know what I’m doing because I’m a big Biden supporter.”
On the other hand, Sen. Jon Tester expressed doubts about Biden's ability to lead for another term. “President Biden has got to prove to the American people — including me — that he’s up to the job for another four years,” Tester remarked. Similarly, Rep. Adam Smith publicly called for Biden to step down from the race.
Biden also met virtually with the Congressional Black Caucus for 30 minutes to discuss his second-term policy proposals. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer reiterated his support for Biden, emphasizing unity within the party. Sen. Alex Padilla urged the party to focus on campaign efforts rather than internal disputes, saying, “Time to quit the hand-wringing and get back to door knocking.”
