Biden chooses to continue his vacation rather than attend the White House event for the WNBA champs

President Joe Biden has chosen vacation over the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) champions, Fox News reports

Back in July, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden invited the Las Vegas Aces - the reigning WNBA champions - to a White House ceremony to celebrate their victory.

The Washington Times reports, "The Aces won the championship over the Connecticut Sun in a 3-1 WNBA Finals series last September, a full seven months before the Golden Knights captured the Stanley Cup."

Nikki Fargas, the team's president, responded to the White House invitation with a statement indicating that her players were "excited and honored" to attend the event.

Fargas said, "I know that all of our players and front office staff who worked so hard to help build that championship team and elevate this franchise will enjoy taking part in the festivities."

The event was scheduled to take place at the White House on Friday, August 25, 2023. Biden, however, decided not to show up.

The Fox News Channel's Peter Doocy reports:

When they initially announced this event, it said the president and the first lady were going to host the Aces today, but then they extended their vacation, they were supposed to get back yesterday. Now they don’t get back until tomorrow. So, that is how you wind up getting feted at the White House by the vice president, instead of by the president. We don’t know what he’s doing today, but his motorcade is on the move somewhere in the South Lake Tahoe area.

That's right. Instead of Biden and Vice President Harris, the Aces only got to meet up with Harris during the event.

Harris, during the ceremony, tried to score some political points.

Harris did so by commending the team, according to ABC News, for "pushing for equal pay for female athletes and all women." Harris also praised the team for supporting fellow WNBA player Brittney Griner during her detention in Russia.

Harris claimed:

Our nation’s stronger because of your leadership. For example, when an American citizen was wrongfully detained abroad, you organized and advocated in a ferocious extraordinary way. You organized folks, you lifted up the issue, you helped educate folks about what was at stake, all in support of Brittney Griner.

One wonders how the Aces feel about the fact that Biden chose vacation over their ceremony.

At the end of the day, they should not feel too bad. After all, Biden has also been snubbing the American people.

The latest reports indicate that Biden has spent nearly 40% of his presidency on vacation. That adds up to more than 370 days. He's missed a lot more than sports celebrations.
