Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis made waves when he relocated migrants from his state to Martha's Vineyard. However, the media has overlooked what President Joe Biden's administration has been doing all along.
The Biden administration has been pressing Mexico to accept immigrants from Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua under COVID-19 rules it had publicly sought to end, Hot Air reported. This provides a loophole to deport refugees that would otherwise be granted asylum due to conditions in their home nations.
Former President Donald Trump implemented Title 42 to provide the government with swift means to turn away immigrants at the borders due to health concerns during the pandemic. Biden sought to abolish it almost immediately.
However, it seems the administration is currently using the provision to curb the influx of illegal immigrants. Migrants from Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua are being sent back via the Dominican Republic to circumvent the right to asylum.
Immigrants from these nations make up a quarter of border crossers. Perhaps that's why the Biden administration was already sending Venezuelans back to Panama, according to a report in February.
This wouldn't be as much of a shocking revelation except for the way the left is responding to DeSantis and other Republican governors who are sending migrants into blue areas. Two planeloads of migrants from Florida landed in Martha's Vineyard Thursday and quickly drew the ire of leftists in the media for being uncharitable.
A post at Balwark Thursday even attacked DeSantis as being "un-Christian" for sending people to Martha's Vineyard instead of stuffing them into shelters in Florida. "He didn’t clothe the naked or feed the hungry. He literally did the opposite: Evicted them...because he saw that he could use them as a means to the ends of his personal ambition."
There is always a double standard when it comes to Democrats. However, they can't hide it this time now that Republicans are beating them at their own game.
