Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Alan Williams has resigned from the team under mysterious circumstances.
Williams reportedly resigned for health and family purposes, though other rumors have been widespread to explain his abrupt departure from the team.

“I am taking a step back to take care of my health and family. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chicago Bears, a storied NFL franchise with a rich history,” Williams said.
“The McCaskey family is first-class and second to none. I would also like to thank Coach Matt Eberflus and General Manager Ryan Poles for giving me the opportunity to come to Chicago. I would also like to thank President Kevin Warren, the coaches and player of which I value the relationships and camaraderie,” he added.

“Given the false rumors and what seems to be out there on social media, I just want to set the record straight that Coach Williams has some health challenges and some family issues he’s dealing with and he thought it was the right time to take a step back and deal with those issues,” the statement from his attorney Andrew M. Stroth said.
“He has tremendous respect for the Bears organization and he just thought it was the time to handle this health issue and his personal matters," he added.

"According to sources familiar with the situation, both Halas Hall and Alan Williams’s home have been raided in connection with an undisclosed incident," Jon Zaghloul posted to X.
"Alan Williams’s home was raided Sunday night, after the team’s Week 1 loss," he claimed.
A Bears spokesperson later denied the report regarding the police raid on his home.
The real reason behind the coordinator's sudden departure remains unclear but it seems to be a personal issue that has forced the team to separate from Williams in a sudden way.
The involvement of an attorney reaching out to the media on behalf of Williams is also telling, noting that there may be more to unfold over the speculations in the matter.
