Army lauds soldiers who tackled active shooter at Fort Stewart

A shocking shooting at Fort Stewart, Georgia, revealed the raw courage of American soldiers facing chaos head-on. On Thursday, a U.S. Army sergeant turned his weapon on his own, wounding five before being subdued by fellow troops.

Fox News reported that the attack, which injured five soldiers, unfolded at the sprawling Army base, with the suspect Sgt. Quornelius Radford, 28, is now in pre-trial confinement.

Heroic actions by six soldiers, including one who tackled Radford and others who rushed the wounded to safety, likely prevented a worse tragedy. While the left obsesses over “toxic masculinity,” these troops showed what real men do when lives are on the line.

Fort Stewart locked down parts of the base as reports of an active shooter spread. Radford, an automated logistics sergeant from Jacksonville, Florida, was apprehended and later booked at Liberty County Jail in Hinesville on May 18. No woke policies or endless briefings stopped this threat—just soldiers doing their duty.

Heroism Shines Amid Chaos

Six soldiers stood tall when the shooting began, with one physically tackling Radford to the ground. Another piled on, ensuring the suspect was subdued.

This wasn’t a scripted Hollywood scene; it was raw, instinctive bravery that progressives can’t quantify in their social justice metrics.

Four of those six heroes didn’t hesitate, rushing their injured brothers to medical care. Three of the five wounded have since been released from the hospital, while two remain in stable condition with longer recoveries ahead. The Army’s focus on “resilience training” pales next to the real grit these soldiers displayed.

Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll praised the soldiers, saying, “The fast action of these soldiers, under stress and trauma and fire, absolutely saved lives from being lost.”

He’s right, but don’t expect the mainstream media to linger on this story—it doesn’t fit their narrative of a broken military. True valor doesn’t need a press release to shine.

Quornelius Radford, who joined the Army in 2018 as an Automated Logistical Specialist, had never seen deployment. Assigned to the Armored Brigade Combat Team, the 28-year-old from Florida now faces serious charges. While the left might rush to pin this on “systemic issues,” sometimes a bad actor is just that—a bad actor.

Radford’s confinement at Liberty County Jail marks the next step in a case that’s shaken Fort Stewart. The Army, celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2025, doesn’t need this kind of headline. Yet, the incident underscores the strength of soldiers who rise above, not the failures of one.

Driscoll noted, “These American soldiers highlight exactly what the Army has been to this country.” He’s not wrong—while bureaucrats push progressive agendas, these troops remind us of the Army’s core: duty and sacrifice. No amount of woke rebranding can overshadow that truth.

Recovery and Reflection

The three soldiers released from the hospital are a testament to modern medical care and sheer will. The two still recovering face a tough road, but their stable condition offers hope. Contrast this resilience with the endless victimhood culture peddled by some elites, and it’s clear who the real heroes are.

Fort Stewart’s lockdown was a stark reminder of the chaos an active shooter brings. The base, a hub of military readiness, ground to a halt as soldiers and commanders reacted swiftly. This isn’t the “safe space” nonsense campuses preach—it’s a place where real threats meet real responses.

Driscoll said, “It has been there during some of the darkest moments of this nation’s history, and it has been there and stood strong and acted on behalf of American citizens.”

His words ring true, but don’t hold your breath for the left to celebrate this kind of patriotism. They’re too busy rewriting history to notice.

The Army’s 250th anniversary should be a moment of pride, not marred by this tragedy. Yet, the actions of those six soldiers prove why the military remains a cornerstone of American strength. No diversity quota or sensitivity training can replicate what they did.

The shooting, while horrific, showcased the best of the Army’s spirit. From tackling the shooter to saving the wounded, these soldiers embodied the values the left often mocks: courage, loyalty, and selflessness. That’s the America worth fighting for, not the one obsessed with pronouns.
