Approval rating for congressional Democrats crashes

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Jeffries (D-NY) have a real problem on their hands.

Dems were given a big message in 2024, but they did not pay attention, and they continue to act self-righteous and push the same narratives.

They are paying the price, as their approval rating in Congress has hit an all-time low.

Not so fast

History tells us that unless the GOP pulls off a flawless term in the House, it will lose control to the Democrats in the mid-term election.

With only a small advantage in the House now, history looks to repeat itself unless Dems make some major missteps.

Thankfully, that appears to be happening, and CNN’s Harry Enten is cautioning anyone who thinks a blue wave will take over Congress, stating, “Democrats are behind their 2006 and 2018 paces when it comes to the generic congressional ballot … Look at where we are now, Democrats are ahead, but by just two points.

“Look at where Democrats were already ahead by in 2017, they were ahead by 7 points. How about 2005 on the congressional ballot? Ahead by 7 points, ahead by 7 points, and now they’re only ahead by 2 points? That lead is less than half of where it was in either 2017 or 2005 in July. In those years, the year before the midterm elections. Yes, Donald Trump may be unpopular, but Democrats have not come anywhere close to sealing the deal at this particular point.”

Crash and burn

A new Quinnipiac survey was just released, and it is not good for anyone with a “D” after their name in Congress.

The poll reported that only 19% of all registered voters are happy with how Democrats are conducting business in Congress right now. Republicans were not above water, either, but at 33%, they are doing far better than Democrats.

This is the lowest approval rating for Democrats since Quinnipiac started conducting this survey.

Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy summarized the poll, stating, “If the approval numbers for Republicans are bad … then the approval numbers for Democrats can be characterized as flat out terrible.”

Even Obama gets it

Barack Obama was one of the biggest contributors to this crash in approval for Democrats, lecturing voters during the last cycle rather than listening to them, but he is sending out a different message now.

He recently stated, “I will say, as quote-unquote, progressives, Democrats, progressive parents, enlightened ones, we’ve made that mistake sometimes in terms of our rhetoric.

“Where it’s like we’re constantly talking about … what’s wrong with the boys, instead of what’s right with them.”

They were actually talking about parenting in this conversation, but I believe Obama was trying to reach a much broader audience, hinting that liberals as a whole need to change their approach or they will continue to lose, as parents, and as a party.
