AOC calls Supreme Court 'dangerous,' claims impeachment is an option

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) blasted the Supreme Court, claiming it has become "dangerous" for Americans.

Ocasio-Cortez shared the comments during a Sunday interview on CNN's "State of the Union."

The remarks

“We have justices saying that the Supreme Court is going themselves much too far," she stated.

"They are expanding their role into acting as though they are Congress itself. And that, I believe, is an expansion of power that we really must be focusing on. The danger of this court and the abuse of power in this court particularly as it is related to the entanglements around conflicts of interest, as well," the congresswoman added.

The court's legitimacy?

Ocasio-Cortez also told CNN's Dana Bash that "the Supreme Court has not been receiving the adequate oversight necessary in order to preserve their own legitimacy."

"And in the process, being themselves have been destroying the legitimacy of the court, which is profoundly dangerous for our entire democracy," she added.

A repeated theme

The attacks against the Supreme Court follow the congresswoman's complaints from earlier this year.

"I do not think that this court any longer has the legitimacy, especially after the Supreme Court leak last year, which never came to a conclusion because the investigation itself that Chief Justice Roberts started back then," Ocasio-Cortez told CNN in April.

"I believe is very discredited by naming a position that has an inherent conflict of interest because it is employed by those justices to pursue that investigation. I believe that the and it is the House's responsibility to pursue that investigation in the form of impeachment," she added.

The criticism has come despite the congresswoman's own issues with her extreme views in Congress that have been a source of concern among many many conservatives.

The congresswoman's cries of foul play among the Supreme Court may play well to her audience but are short on evidence when it comes to the facts at hand.
