An explosion in Pennsylvania causes the destruction of several homes in the area

An explosion at a home in a community in Plum, Pennsylvania, over the weekend resulted in the deaths of five persons, according to the authority in charge of the area.

On Saturday, officers from the Plum Police Department and firefighters from the Plum Fire Department reacted to an explosion that had damaged nearly a dozen homes and destroyed several more, as The Daily Wire reported.

Ring doorbell video from a property down the street captured the instant that the house went up in flames.

The explosion's origin has not been made public by the investigators yet, and they have not revealed any information about it.

According to Steve Imbarlina, assistant head of the Allegheny County Emergency Services, it could take "months, if not years" to determine what caused the explosion.

“Lori and I are praying for family, friends, and neighbors who lost someone in Plum yesterday, and we’re grateful for the first responders who ran towards danger to save lives,” said Pennsylvania Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro.

“The five Pennsylvanians who passed and their families are in our thoughts today. May their memories be a blessing.”

Imbarlina reported that as a result of the explosion, a number of individuals were sent to the hospital, and dozens of firefighters required medical attention for minor injuries.

“That could have been anything from a strain sprain to heat-related issues,” he said. “They were treated on scene and returned back to duty and re-entered the effort.”

The neighborhood's electricity and gas services, according to the authority in charge of the area, have been temporarily cut off.

The residents of the community have expressed their disbelief and outrage over the event, stating that they cannot believe it had place in their area.

“I still can’t believe it,” said Jason Decheck. “You see this stuff, and when it’s this close, you don’t even know what to think. These are your neighbors … you may not know them all, but this is a really tight community.”
