"American Idol" star Willie Spence died at the age of 23 in a car accident in Tennessee on Tuesday.
The Season 19 runner-up was mourned by a variety of outlets regarding the tragic news.

"I received very tragic news tonight. Sweet [Willie Spence] passed away in a car accident. Only 23 years old. Life is so unfair and nothing is ever promised," Katharine McPhee, who sang a duet with Spence on "American Idol," wrote, according to Page Six.
"God rest your soul Willie. It was a pleasure to sing with you and to know you," she added.

His death also came after a song in which he sang praise to God, with many noting he sang his way to heaven.
