Actor and comedian Pete Davidson charged with reckless driving after terrifying collision

Actor and comedian Pete Davidson was charged with reckless driving after ramming his vehicle into a home in Beverley Hills on March 4, Fox News reported. The former star of "Saturday Night Live" is facing only a misdemeanor and will be arraigned on July 27.

"We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home. Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision," an emailed statement from the District Attorney's office said.

Authorities said neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash. Davidson was driving his Mercedes-Benz sedan in a residential neighborhood when he crashed into a fire hydrant and then a home.

He had just left the Kids' Choice Awards, where he presented with other members of the "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" cast. The statement from the DA further admonished Davidson's poor decisions behind the wheel.

"We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences," the statement went on. "In 2022, traffic fatalities in Los Angeles have reached the highest levels seen in 20 years," the statement added.

"This is an alarming trend that we cannot ignore. As a result, it's crucial that we take all allegations of reckless driving seriously and hold those responsible accountable."

Thankfully, the incident left all involved unharmed. "Nobody was injured. Nobody at the home and nobody in the car," Beverly Hills Police Lt. Renato Moreno said.

At the time, Davidson was traveling with "Bodies Bodies Bodies" co-star Chase Sui Wonders. She is rumored to be his girlfriend and appeared as his love interest in Davidson's semi-autobiographical 2023 series "Bupkis" on Peacock.

According to People Magazine, the crash has not impacted their relationship. Davidson and the "Generation" star are reportedly "still going strong" together.

"He really, really cares for her and thinks she's just the best," an unnamed inside source told the gossip magazine. Davidson has been linked to other high-profile ladies in his romantic past.

Davidson famously dated Kim Kardashian for nine months before moving on to model Emily Ratajkowski. He was also engaged to Ariana Grande for a year before the two called it quits.

The actor recently made news after a tussle with the radical animal rights group PETA. The organization's senior vice president in the Cruelty Investigations Department, Daphna Nachminovitch, publicly excoriated Davidson for purchasing a puppy rather than adopting one from a shelter.

This prompted Davidson to leave a nasty obscenity-laced rant on Nachminovitch's voicemail, explaining it was because of allergy concerns. The conflict quickly became fodder for entertainment news.

Hollywood stars are not above the law. Davidson should face consequences for his behavior that led to damage to property damage inflicted on innocent people.
