Bondi pulls back threat of National Guard in Chicago

Attorney General and President Trump just made a decision that I very much agree with. The National Guard will no longer be deployed in Chicago, as had been previously threatened.

Bondi pulled it back this week, saying they would concentrate on helping cities that wanted federal help.

Worried about 2024

Joe Biden loved to speak in hyperbole, and the media never said a word about it. Donald Trump often does the same thing, but he does it to spark a response from Democrats and the media, and they usually take the bait.

When Trump started talking about crime in Chicago, Dems went over every word he said, and they started acting like Trump was trying to be a dictator (do you think this has anything to do with all the political violence in this country?).

When Trump said he was sending in the National Guard, Illinois Governor Pritzker took the rhetoric to a whole new level, stating, "You think they're questioning them? Because that's not what any of us are seeing in any of the bystander videos that have been made. People are being grabbed.

"You shouldn't have to walk around with papers the way that they did in the early days of Nazi Germany to prove that you belong and that you're not one of them. And that is essentially the kind of country that we're becoming."

At war

When Trump made his “Chipocalypse Now” post, I took no time in calling him out over it, believing it was the wrong tone for the conversation. And believe me, it was not because I disagreed with him, but I just knew how this would play out.

Trump accompanied the post with the caption, “’I love the smell of deportations in the morning.’ Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR.” That is what led to Pritzker’s comments above, as well as the media wondering why Trump wanted to go to war with Chicago.

Now, Governor Newsom of California recently said he was going to punch Republicans in the face, and his statement was accepted as hyperbole, yet Trump’s was taken literally.

When Trump was asked about going to war with Chicago, he erupted at the journalist who asked the question. This was a baiting post by Trump, and the media took the bait, and Trump got to go off on them publicly, which is exactly what he wanted.

Off the table

Now, I get called out a lot for being critical of Trump, but you have to understand, I am looking at this in big picture fashion and how the media will portray it, as well as how the Dems will use it, and I just thought that particular post had little risk-reward factor.

It would now appear that the administration realized that if they sent the Guard to Chicago, the authoritarian narrative would blow up, so it’s not happening. Bondi stated, “They are a progressive city, and they don’t want the president’s help.

“That’s on them. Chicago should be begging Donald Trump for help to keep Chicago safe — yet they aren’t. So we’re going to a city who wants us there.”

I love this move because now Mayor Johnson and Governor Pritzker are forced to answer their voters about rising crime. Now, if I were in Trump’s administration, I would be pushing Chicago crime stats every day, or at the least, every week. Give an update, and continue to extend that offer to help. Put them on the defensive and make them pay.
