Gas prices crash as a result of Trump’s energy policies reversing Biden-era policies

Gas prices are finally breathing easy again. The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded has dipped to $3.155 as of July 18, 2025, a welcome relief for American drivers. This marks the lowest level since the summer of 2021, signaling a sharp reversal from the pain at the pump under former President Joe Biden.

President Donald Trump’s executive actions have slashed fuel costs. His “Unleashing American Energy” order, signed on day one of his second term, prioritized domestic energy production.

Breitbart reported that Trump's orders undid Biden-era policies that sent gas prices soaring to a record $5.016 per gallon in June 2022. Diesel, too, hit a grim peak at $5.815 that same month.

The Biden administration’s energy restrictions choked supply chains and spiked costs. Trump’s swift policy shift has brought much-needed relief to truckers and families alike.

Energy Independence Drives Savings

Average gas prices fell from $3.187 a month ago to $3.155 now. That’s a steep drop from last year’s $3.505 average. Drivers are noticing the difference, with wallets feeling less pinched at the pump.

“Prices at the pump keep dropping thanks to President Trump unleashing American energy,” said White House Assistant Press Secretary Taylor Rogers. This isn’t just talk—data backs it up. But don’t expect progressive pundits to cheer policies that actually work for everyday Americans.

Biden once called high gas prices part of an “incredible transition” to less fossil fuel reliance. His vision left families stranded with skyrocketing costs in 2022. Trump’s approach, by contrast, puts affordability first, proving that practicality trumps ideology.

Gas isn’t the only thing getting cheaper. Egg prices plummeted 61% from February to June 2025. This double win for consumers shows Trump’s policies are tackling inflation head-on.

“In the thick of summer, gas prices are laying low,” AAA noted in a July 17 press release. Their data confirms a one-cent drop from $3.16 to $3.155 in a single day. That’s real progress, not just pocket change.

Biden’s 2022 remarks about a “stronger” world post-transition sound hollow now. His green agenda ignored the immediate needs of working-class Americans. Trump’s focus on energy production has delivered tangible results instead.

Reversing Biden’s Energy Missteps

Trump’s energy overhaul didn’t just happen—it was deliberate. His administration dismantled restrictive regulations that hobbled U.S. oil and gas output. The result? Prices are stabilizing, and families can plan road trips without dread.

Rogers put it bluntly: “President Trump ended Joe Biden’s reckless war on American energy.” She’s right—Biden’s policies kneecapped domestic production while preaching utopian ideals. Americans paid the price, literally.

By July 17, 2025, the national average was $3.16, down from $3.167 the week prior. That steady decline reflects a market responding to pro-energy policies. It’s a stark contrast to the chaos of 2022’s record highs.

Summer 2021 was the last time gas prices felt this manageable. Back then, $3.155 seemed normal, not a luxury. Trump’s return to those levels shows what happens when common sense guides policy.

The progressive push for costly energy alternatives hasn’t aged well. Biden’s “transition” left Americans stuck with $5 gas and $6 diesel. Trump’s focus on domestic resources proves you don’t need to bankrupt families to move forward.

With gas prices down and egg prices slashed, Trump’s policies are making life more affordable. The data speaks for itself: $3.155 per gallon and a 61% drop in egg costs. For once, government seems to be working for the people, not against them.
