Harris crops Biden out of Independence Day gloomy message

One thing that has always been consistent in this country is that on national holidays, both sides of the aisle generally offer a patriotic message.

That started to go out the window after Trump got elected in 2016, but this year was like nothing I have ever seen.

Over and above the horrifying messages coming from the left, everyone was noticing how Kamala Harris cropped Joe Biden out of her post on social media to tell her followers the United States is just a horrible place.

Hollywood Offers Sad Stories

Some of the richest people in this country offered the worst sentiments.

For example, I give you director Lee Daniels, a black man with a net worth of somewhere between $7 million and $30 million. We don’t really know because he apparently keeps a tight wrap on his personal finances.

But, having directed films such as “Precious,” “The Butler,” and “The Paperboy,” just to name a few, the man has been reaping the rewards of this country for sure. Yet, his message to the people of the United States on Independence Day was, “I woke up sad this morning and frustrated as I’m sure many of you must have.” Daniels later added, “Make America Great Again are the four most dangerous words ever to hit America ... never great for anybody except for the white man.”

Imagine having the opportunities he has had, far more than just about anyone reading this, and he dares to say this country is only benefiting white men. That, my friends, is how you sow racial divide.

Harris Bringing Everyone Down

We would hope that someone who ran for president would have a healthier outlook, but Harris offered more of the same.

She wrote, “This Fourth of July, I am taking a moment to reflect. Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better.

“But I love our country -- and when you love something, you fight for it. Together, we will continue to fight for the ideals of our nation.”

Needless to say, MAGA lit her up online, slamming her for the comments and considering ourselves lucky we avoided that ticking bomb.

More of the Same

Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was quite cheery, posting, "On July 4, 1776, Americans said: No to Kings, No to Despotism. On July 4, 2025, all across the country, Americans say again: No to Kings, No to Despotism.”

I would have thought he would have been happy since his No Kings rally was successful, having kicked all the kings out of the United States.

That brings us to Barack Obama, who was also full of joy, posting, “And at this moment in history -- when core democratic principles seem to be continuously under attack, when too many people around the world have become cynical and disengaged—now is precisely the time to ask ourselves tough questions about how we can build our democracies and make them work in meaningful and practical ways for ordinary people.”

It's about making one side hate the other, creating the illusion that people of color have no chance with Republicans in charge, but I think that message is falling flat after the previous four years. Not for all, but for enough. I guess we will find out when voters head to the polling stations in 2026 if the fearmongering and hateful rhetoric are working.
