Cory Bowman has officially declared his intention to join the 2025 mayoral race in Cincinnati, aiming to bring a new Republican perspective to the vibrant city. Bowman's candidacy offers residents of Cincinnati "prosperity, growth, and joy" at the center of his campaign.
Breitbart reported that Bowman, who is the half-brother of Vice President JD Vance, revealed his decision to run for mayor, outlining his vision for the city's future.
Besides being a registered Republican, Bowman serves as the pastor of The River Church in Cincinnati and is also the co-owner of Kings Arms Coffee. His diverse background provides a mix of community engagement and entrepreneurship.
His run for office was largely inspired by witnessing the inauguration of his brother JD Vance alongside President Donald Trump.
Speaking about his brother's impact, Bowman mentioned his admiration for JD Vance, although he emphasized that he doesn't speak on behalf of his brother. "An incredible role model," he said about the Vice President, reflecting a familial pride in Vance's achievements.
Before launching his candidacy, Bowman highlighted the crucial phase Cincinnati is entering. He expressed a deep commitment to ensuring the city does not "fall behind in the critical years ahead."
Bowman has begun his campaign by seeking the necessary 500-1,000 signatures from registered voters, a requirement for him to qualify for the ballot.
Bowman's Republican ticket stands out, as the last Republican candidate for Cincinnati's mayor was Brad Wenstrup in 2009.
Wenstrup’s campaign ended in a loss to a Democratic opponent, a historical context that provides a backdrop to Bowman's current endeavor.
Bowman wrote, "I am officially announcing my candidacy for the position of Mayor of the City of Cincinnati in 2025," marking a significant moment for the city's political landscape. His campaign promises to offer Cincinnatians more choices when it comes to shaping their community's future.
Within his declared political agenda, Bowman prioritizes prosperity, growth, and joy for the downtown area. He expressed the importance of never becoming complacent with the status quo and underscored that the public should have the autonomy to decide their own future.
Bowman seems prepared for the challenges that come with running for office. He voiced the advice he's received: "Many have told me 'Get ready. They will come after you.'" The identities of "they" remain vague, but it's evident that Bowman is resolute in his commitment to offering the people of Cincinnati a genuine choice.
His dedication to community values is further illustrated by his joint ownership of Kings Arms Coffee, a business endeavor that not only provides local employment but also strengthens ties within the community.
Bowman's deeply personal motivations extend beyond political aspirations. "There's nobody that cheered louder when he was getting sworn in than me," he recalled, speaking about his brother's inauguration. These familial ties bolster Bowman’s resolve to serve his community.
While he acknowledges JD Vance's influence, Bowman maintains his individuality and personal motivations for entering the political race. He noted that, despite their family connection, each sibling's path is distinct and complementary.
