Former President Donald Trump temporarily stopped his rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin on Saturday after a medical emergency arose among the crowd.
Newsweek reported that Trump’s rally was interrupted approximately 30 minutes into his speech as attendees began calling for help for someone experiencing a medical issue.
The rally, held in a conservative part of Wisconsin, saw Trump addressing a large crowd before the situation unfolded.
People in the audience started shouting for a "medic" after someone appeared to need medical attention. Trump responded swiftly, pausing his remarks to request assistance. “Medic, please. Doctor, thank you,” Trump said as he addressed the crowd and the medical personnel making their way to the scene.
For about five minutes, Trump stayed focused on the medical incident as members of his audience and EMS personnel worked to assist the individual.
One attendee wearing an EMS vest was spotted aiding the effort. Trump encouraged the crowd to give space for the medical team, saying, “Take your time,” as he reassured the audience that the situation was under control.
The former president praised the quick response of the medical team, stating, “We get the greatest service here. It’s amazing the way they are just right on it.”
This moment of praise was followed by Trump noting the positive signs coming from the situation, signaling that the situation might be improving. “We’re getting a lot of good signs,” he commented as the crowd began to signal their approval by giving thumbs-up.
The brief pause in the rally allowed the medical team to address the emergency, with Trump encouraging the crowd to ensure that enough room was made for the medics. “Just make some room for them so they can get out and hopefully come back before we’re finished because we can stay here all day as far as I’m concerned,” Trump said.
After the medical issue seemed to be resolved, the rally resumed with Trump continuing his remarks.
Attendees appeared relieved, and the atmosphere in the crowd returned to normal once the medical situation was under control.
This is not the first time that Trump’s rallies have been interrupted by medical emergencies. Earlier this year, similar incidents occurred during his events in North Carolina and Nevada.
In March, during a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, Trump had to halt his speech after another individual in the crowd required medical attention. A similar situation unfolded in June, ahead of Trump’s rally in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas rally had seen a series of precautions due to high heat, with water, tents, misting fans, and at least one air-conditioned tent provided to keep attendees safe. Despite these measures, a medical emergency still occurred before the event began.
More recently, on August 21, Trump again stopped his rally in Asheboro, North Carolina to request medical assistance for an attendee in distress.
The rally in Wisconsin took place as Trump continues to campaign ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Polls in the state currently show Vice President Kamala Harris leading Trump by a slim margin.
According to FiveThirtyEight, Harris holds a 3-point lead over Trump, with 47.6 percent to his 44.6 percent. Similarly, The Silver Bulletin by Nate Silver indicates Harris is leading Trump by 2.4 points, 49 to 46.6 percent.
Despite these polling numbers, Trump’s rally in Mosinee was well attended, and the incident with the medical emergency did not seem to diminish his connection with the crowd.
