This week, a former aide to President Donald Trump received bad news regarding the next four months of his life.
According to Fox News, former aide Peter Navarro was "ordered to report to a Miami prison by March 19 to begin serving a four-month sentence for flouting a House Jan. 6 committee subpoena."
A Sunday court filing revealed by his attorney, Stanley Woodward, indicated that Navarro will need to report to prison next week.
Navarro and his lawyer are actively seeking a pathway to appeal the order to report to prison.
Woodward asked the court to grant a stay on the report date in an effort to have the U.S. Supreme Court review the case.
"Accordingly, Dr. Navarro respectfully reiterates his request for an administratively [sic] stay so as to permit the Court to resolve the instant motion. Should this Court deny Dr. Navarro’s motion, he respectfully requests an administrative stay so as to permit the Supreme Court review of this Court’s denial," the attorney wrote.
Navarro made headlines in September of last year after he refused to play ball with the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol protests. Navarro dodged a subpoena issued by the committee.
Fox News noted:
The subpoena required Navarro to appear and produce documents in February 2022 and sit for a deposition in March 2022, but Navarro refused to provide the materials and testify. As a private citizen, he was indicted on June 2, 2022.
Navarro was sentenced in January to four months, which was two months less than what DOJ prosecutors wanted. The judge also drastically lowered the requested $200,000 fine down to $9,500.

Many across social media noted that recent revelations regarding what the House J6 Committee might have hidden from the public should mean that cases affecting Navarro and others should be thrown out completely.
"After the recent J6 committee bombshells proving they lied and covered things up, everything should be dropped for Navarro. Nothing about that committee was legitimate," one X user wrote.
Another X user added, "The judge should be removed. Has he not seen all the J6 information coming out?"
Only time will tell if Navarro's lawyer is able to beat the sentence through the appeals process.
