Jill Biden travels without president to speak at major entertainment industry event

First Lady Jill Biden will take center stage on Monday at the A Day Of Unreasonable Conversation, an event blending entertainment industry figures and activists in a social impact gathering. The move further demonstrates that Joe Biden is being hidden away to avoid an embarrassing situation that will further damage his campaign.

Biden's spotlight moment will feature a conversation with actress Halle Berry, focusing on the groundbreaking White House Initiative on Women's Health Research.

The event

Their discussion, titled "Writing New Stories About Women's Health (Yes, That Includes Menopause!)," aims to explore how cultural influencers and media content can drive forward discussions on this crucial topic.

Before her Monday appearance, Biden's itinerary includes a trip to Southern California for fundraising endeavors, building up to her participation at the Los Angeles Human Rights Campaign dinner over the weekend.

Among the notable personalities joining Biden at the Getty Center event are Paris Hilton, Yvette Nicole Brown, Christine Blasey Ford, Amy Spitalnick, and Sitarah Pendleton-Eaglin.

The lineup encompasses a diverse array of figures, including Jane Fonda, Cord Jefferson, Yusef Salaam, Charli d'Amelio, and more.

Traveling without Joe

Phoebe Robinson is slated to serve as the event's emcee, orchestrating panels, performances, and intimate conversations where the first lady will appear, traveling for the major event without the president.

Founded by social impact agency Propper Daley in collaboration with partner agency Invisible Hand serving as creative directors, Kerry Washington co-chairs the event alongside her Simpson Street producing partner Pilar Savone.

The discussions slated for the event are both diverse and thought-provoking. For instance, Paris Hilton will engage in a dialogue with Murthy and Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios' Sitarah Pendelton-Eaglin on the profound mental and physical effects of loneliness.

Nobel Prize-winning journalist Maria Ressa will delve into the looming threat of disinformation propagated by generative AI on social media platforms. Meanwhile, Prentice Penny, showrunner of HBO's "Insecure," will explore the emergence and impact of "Black Twitter."

Political topics abound

The event's agenda also includes weighty topics like labor practices and recent strikes, which WGA West board member Adam Conover will address. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) will share insights on democracy's vulnerabilities alongside Baratunde Thurston.

Journalist Mónica Guzmán will moderate a conversation with her parents, Mexican immigrants who twice voted for Donald Trump. Musical performances by Kesha, Trombone Shorty, Sarah Jones, and others will punctuate the day's proceedings.

Propper highlighted the event's intention to provoke critical thought, though much campaigning is also expected as the First Lady seeks to bolster support within the entertainment industry.
