Woman arrested after attempting to gain access to White House to ‘deliver’ a letter to Biden

The White House faced a potential assassination emergency on Saturday after a woman in possession of a loaded weapon claiming she had a letter for President Joe Biden was arrested near the White House grounds.

The Secret Service said that the woman, accompanied by a man carrying a BB gun, approached a checkpoint near the White House and told agents that she wanted to personally deliver a letter to Biden.

The woman’s loaded gun was located in her vehicle, parked near the Old Ebbitt Grill restaurant on 15 Street NW, police say.

Both individuals were arrested at approximately 5:30 PM.

Sylvia Hall, 66, was arrested on charges of carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, and possession of unregistered ammunition. Her companion was arrested for possession of a BB gun.

Attempts to gain access to the White House are nothing new, President Donald Trump was frequently targeted by deranged individuals attempting to breach the White House perimeter, and security officials are particularly on edge currently.

Security in Washington D.C. is especially tight currently, as thousands of National Guard troops continue to occupy the nation’s capital after the events of January 6th.
