Former President Donald Trump believes he got a raw deal in the 2020 presidential election. A recent win in the Wisconsin Supreme Court has him hoping he’ll be proven right.
GOP Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said Trump has reached out to him to overturn the 2020 presidential election after the state’s high court restricted the use of ballot drop boxes, the Washington Examiner reported. Trump has consistently railed against such practices he believes may have swayed the election.
“It’s very consistent,” Vos said told the local news outlet, UPFRONT. “He makes his case, which I respect. He would like us to do something different in Wisconsin, Vos continued.
“I explained it’s not allowed under the Constitution. He has a different opinion, and then he put out the tweet. So that’s it,” Vos said of Trump’s insistence that he decertify the 2020 election results that determined President Joe Biden the winner.
Trump reiterated his request on his social media platform, Truth Social. “It’s now up to Robin Vos to do what everybody knows must be done,” he wrote. “We need FAIR and HONEST Elections in our Country.”
“Speaker Robin Vos has a decision to make! Does Wisconsin RECLAIM the Electors, turn over the Election to the actual winner (by a lot!), or sit back and do nothing as our Country continues to go to HELL?” Trump said.
Biden won in Wisconsin by 21,000 votes, and the results have survived through many allegations of fraud brought by Trump’s legal team. Still, Trump maintains that the election was stolen from him. At the same time, Democrats use this assertion as a club against the former president and his supporters who protested the certification of the election at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
There were many unprecedented and shady things that happened during the runup and into the vote counting for the 2020 presidential election. However, the most productive thing to do about it now is to look ahead to future elections — and Trump may still get the chance to best Biden yet.
