At this time, only one criminal indictment has materialized from the ongoing investigation — led by U.S. Attorney John Durham — into the origins of the “Russia Collusion” hoax born in Obama’s oval office and the seventh floor of the FBI.
Pundits and Trump supp0rters assert that heads are going to roll, and law-abiding Americans hope that is true, but so far, only one head has rolled. Kevin Clinesmith, a former FBI lawyer, was charged and pleaded guilty to a single count of falsifying a document. He altered one of former Trump aide Carter Page’s emails that would have swayed the FISA court to toss the FBI request for a FISA warrant. The altered document was discovered by Inspector General Michael Horowitz and revealed in his December 2019 report, 9 months ago.
Americans are wondering if former Obama administration officials like Peter Strzok, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, and others will ever be held accountable for the parts they played in the Russia Collusion hoax and the turmoil, division, and damage it has done to our institutions and our national security.
Strzok is free and running around promoting his book justifying what he and others did. Comey, Brennan, McCabe, and others continue to attack and accuse President Trump at every opportunity — of which there are many. Justice doesn’t just seem slow, it seems impossible.
In what seemed to be an effort to bring down expectations for criminal charges, former congressman Trey Gowdy recently said he said he believes that the Clinesmith indictment will be the only one issued by Durham: “Whether or not there’ll be more indictments or not, I don’t know and I like to assume that there will not be,” Gowdy said this week.
Attorney General William Barr went on CNN and said that the Durham investigation would not interfere with the 2020 election.
I will handle these cases as appropriate. And I do not think anything that we do in the Durham investigation — I assume that’s what you’re talking about — is going to be affecting the election.
Back in May, Barr said he did not expect that former President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden would be the subjects of a criminal investigation, crushing many Trump supporters’ hopes.
Now, as to President Obama and Vice President Biden, whatever their level of involvement, based on the information I have today, I don’t expect Mr. Durham’s work will lead to a criminal investigation of either man. Our concern over potential criminality is focused on others.”
On a more hopeful note, Former congressman Mark Meadows, President Trump’s chief of staff, hinted that there will be justice, or at least, there should be.
Additional documents that I’ve been able to review say that a number of the players, the Peter Strzoks, the Andy McCabes, the James Comeys, and even others in the administration previously are in real trouble because of their willingness to participate in an unlawful act and I use the word unlawful at best, it broke all kinds of protocols and at worst people should go to jail as I mentioned previously.
