Whoopi Goldberg facing national backlash for anti-Semetic comments, career is all but over

Whoopi Goldberg is facing renewed calls for her ouster from ABC's "The View" after doubling down on comments about the Holocaust, the Conservative Brief reported. The 67-year-old comedian had apologized earlier this year after remarking that Nazi killings were "not about race."

In February 2022, Goldberg was suspended from the show after downplaying the plight of the Jewish people during the reign of Adolf Hitler. "Let’s be truthful about it because [the] Holocaust isn’t about race," she said, according to Variety. "It’s not about race. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man," she added.

ABC News President Kim Godwin released a statement shortly thereafter announcing Goldberg's temporary removal from the panel discussion show. "Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments," a statement from Godwin said.

"While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities,"  Godwin added.

Goldberg returned to the show after an appropriate mea culpa, but now it seems that was an empty apology. In an interview with "The Sunday Times" of London published over the weekend, the comedian doubled down on her remarks.

While speaking about the earlier controversy, the reporter pointed out that "Nazis saw Jews as a race," NBC News reported. Goldberg took the opportunity to double down and flesh out her earlier ideas.

"Yes, but that’s the killer, isn’t it?" Goldberg said. "The oppressor is telling you what you are. Why are you believing them? They’re Nazis. Why believe what they’re saying?" she added.

"It wasn’t originally" about race, she asserted. "Remember who they were killing first. They were not killing racial; they were killing physical," Goldberg added.

"They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision." The reporter then pointed to the fact that "the Nazis measured the heads and noses of Jews to 'prove' they were a distinct race," but Goldberg was unconvinced.

"They did that to Black people too. But it doesn’t change the fact that you could not tell a Jew on a street," she said. "You could find me. You couldn’t find them," Goldberg continued.

"That was the point I was making. But you would have thought that I’d taken a big old stinky dump on the table, butt naked," Goldberg said of the backlash from her first set of offensive remarks.

The backlash again came swiftly, as did another apology Tuesday. "It was never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments, especially after talking with and hearing people like rabbis and old and new friends weighing in," Goldberg claimed.

"I’m still learning a lot and believe me, I heard everything everyone said to me. I believe that the Holocaust was about race, and I am still as sorry now as I was then that I upset, hurt and angered people," Goldberg said.

The newest apology rings hollow in light of what she's said both times she's had the chance. Leftists often get away with believing the worst and most bizarre narratives that fit their worldview, and Goldberg likely thinks she's immune from cancel culture.
