Democrats have no qualms about using whatever underhanded tricks they can to get their radical agenda through. Of course, they’ll lie about it until they’re in office and able to rig the system in their favor.
President Joe Biden may be ready to kill the filibuster to ram through his federal voting overhaul despite his previous support for the measure, the Washington Examiner reported. Biden has been privately leaning on Democratic lawmakers to dispense with it.
On Air Force One Monday, White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confronted rumors that Biden had flip-flopped on the issue and that he’d been trying to persuade lawmakers. Though Jean-Pierre said she would “keep those personal conversations with congressional leadership private,” she stopped short of any denial.
“Right now, the goal on voting rights legislation is for the Senate working on this to come together and see if they can produce a compromise,” she said. “The president is hopeful that they can, that this group can do that. If they can do that, then they need to go line up the votes.”
Previously, Biden opposed forcing the talking filibuster over the silent filibuster used in modern times to delay votes. His change would mean that lawmakers opposing legislation would need to delay a vote à la James Stewart in “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.”
This focus on the filibuster comes as Democrats are eager to institute radical legislation, including the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, a federal power grab of elections oversight typically handled by the states. On Tuesday, attorneys general from 23 states sent a letter to Democratic lawmakers warning they would sue if the legislation passed, according to Fox News.
“The bill, as introduced, would allow the United States Department of Justice to usurp the authority states rightly possess over their own elections, essentially federalizing the election system,” the letter stated. “H.R. 4 seeks to flip this Constitutional mandate on its head, turning the Department of Justice into a federal ‘election czar,’ wielding the power to challenge any new or existing election law based on the whims of the party in power and its desire to manipulate election laws to increase its chances to remain in power,” the letter charged.
The focus on changing procedures to pass such a bill is a ploy to get federal control of elections and how they’re conducted. While there is no smoking-gun evidence of cheating from the party, their incessant desire to swallow up elections oversight says it all.
