White House press secretary Jen Psaki addressed concerns regarding President Joe Biden’s health on Monday, saying she sometimes has a hard time keeping up with him.
“I will say I have nothing to read out on the president’s private exercise routine,” Psaki said in response to a question to a reporter according to Breitbart News. “I can tell you, having traveled with him a fair amount, sometimes he’s hard to keep up with.”
The response sought to alleviate concerns that have circulated regarding the 78-year-old president’s health.
Biden has been recorded falling up the stairs to Air Force I and has traveled little during his term in the White House, leading some to question his fitness.
Others have challenged his mental fitness. Biden has often struggled with reading a teleprompter or answering questions.
A group of more than 124 retired generals and admirals also questioned Biden’s mental health earlier in May. The group wrote a letter publicly expressing concern about Biden’s ability to serve as commander-in-chief.
When asked about the president’s physical exam, Psaki deferred the concern, noting, ““I know you’ve asked about this before, and it is something we will be doing.”
Biden’s health may show some concerns, but the Democrat president continues to persevere despite those who have questioned his ability to lead due to physical or mental fitness issues.
