White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said on Wednesday she did not know if President Joe Biden has ever visited the nation’s southern border in an effort to support border security.
“I will have to look back in my history books and check the times he’s been to the Southern border,” Psaki said during Wednesday’s daily press briefing when asked about the topic by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.
Biden’s long political career has largely focused on his home state of Delaware. It appears Biden did not visit the border during his eight years as vice president under then President Barack Obama.
“We have been looking all morning and we cannot find any record of him visiting the border,” Doocy said in response.
DOOCY: “Has President Biden ever been to the southern border?”
PSAKI: “In his life? I will have to look back in my history books and check…”

The topic arose as more than 200,000 illegal immigrants were recorded for the second month in a row for August. More than 1.3 million illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border in 2021.
Most recently, up to 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants crossed the border and gathered under the Del Rio International Bridge. The passage has now been blocked and the migrants are slowly being process, though several thousand people remain.
The president’s record on the border is certainly weak. It also appears his presence to the border has been invisible.
