2020 has been a year like no other, and President Trump acknowledged the unique difficulties and triumphs prompted by it in his final public address of the year on Thursday.
The president highlighted the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, celebrating Operation Warp Speed’s success in developing and authorizing a vaccine for the novel virus at a speed never before seen.
Trump noted that the operation was “a truly unprecedented amazing medical miracle. Normally, developing a vaccine takes up to ten years. Thanks to Operation Warp Speed, we developed a vaccine in just nine months.”
The President also acknowledged the economic difficulties and already-remarkable recovery the nation has experienced within the last nine months, noting that “before the pandemic, we built the greatest economy in the history of the world. Now, we are doing it again. We’ve actually built, if you think about it, two great economies: before and after.”
“Whenever America is challenged, we always rise to the occasion,” Trump declared.
At a time in which much of the nation has been focused on the negatives that 2020 brought, Trump took a more optimistic tone, highlighting his administration’s progress in establishing Middle East peace, success combatting the virus, and promoting economic prosperity.
“As long as we remain loyal to our nation,” Trump concluded “devoted to our citizens and faithful to Almighty God, we know that the best is yet to come. God bless you, and God bless America.”
