VP Kamala Harris slammed for photo op with small child wearing mask

While at this point it shouldn't come as even a little bit of a surprise, Vice President Kamala Harris -- or at least her PR team -- has committed yet another humiliating gaffe in the form of a social media post gone terribly wrong.

Harris was apparently attempting to provide inspiration to young Black girls, but instead drew attention to a controversial issue and was called out for it immediately.

"My message to Black women and girls everywhere: Never ask for permission to lead," the vice president's Twitter account wrote Sunday, attaching an image of Harris bending down to speak to a small Black girl wearing a mask.

The Western Journal's Joe Saunders noted:

“But what it inspired was a reaction no image-crafter is aiming aim for: Disgust, anger and withering contempt,” noted the Western Journal in an op-ed pointing out the criticisms.

“For many Twitter users…the message conveyed by the girl wasn’t bold confidence but docility and obedience — not to mention physical discomfort."

The image generated intense backlash, given that the small child was masked, still, and Harris was unmasked, as most elites on the left were the entire pandemic.

Christina Pushaw, the rapid response director for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), slammed the vice president on that very issue.

"Kids should not have to ask for permission to show their faces and breathe freely," Pushaw tweeted.

Other Twitter users captured the same sentiment and didn't hold back in expressing their feelings about the extremely poor and quite frankly, sad, optics portrayed in the photo.

"But she has ask permission to take that mask off right?," Maud Maron tweeted.

"All this picture does is remind us that you support masking children while you are unmasked yourself. You’re anti-science," Liz Wheeler tweeted.

Yeah, this was a flop, to say the least. VP Harris has a tough time keeping her office staffed, and it's easy to see why with flubs like this. Still, one would think that with the resources of the White House, someone on Harris's team would be smart enough to say, "guys, I don't think this one's going to work how we think it will."
