Pro-abortion leftists who are looking to cause trouble at churches in Virginia on Sunday probably ought to think twice before doing so.
The Washington Examiner reports that Jason Miyares (R), the attorney general of Virginia, has made it clear that abortion advocates who disrupt churches could face legal action.Â
Miyares provided the warning in a statement that he released on Saturday.
“I deeply respect the First Amendment rights of speech and assembly,” Miyares wrote. “But, no one has the right to interfere with the fundamental and natural right of all Virginians to practice their religion in peace.”
Miyares continued:
Virginia’s long tradition of protecting religious liberty dates back to the founding of our Commonwealth, when Thomas Jefferson penned the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom that is now enshrined in our Commonwealth’s Constitution. As Attorney General, I am charged with protecting this sacred right for all Virginians.
Miyares goes on to say that his “office will be monitoring protest activities directed at houses of worship and will refer alleged criminal violations to the United States Department of Justice or to the appropriate Commonwealth’s Attorney.”
He adds, though, that he, himself, “will not hesitate to bring suit to protect the religious freedom of the citizens of this Commonwealth.”
The left has called for pro-abortion protesters to target churches this Mother’s Day following the recently-leaked abortion decision from the U.S. Supreme Court. In that decision, the justices appear to overturn the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade.
It’s good to see that at least one attorney general will not let these leftists get away with their so-called protests.

Thank God for Miyares and hope there are many like him around our country.
