UCLA diversity official wishes death on Clarence Thomas via social media

In an appalling burst of ideological hatred, Johnathan Perkins, director of Race and Equity at UCLA, recently authored an incendiary Twitter post in which he appeared to openly wish death upon Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who had been hospitalized with what was reported to be an infection, as Fox News reports.

Perkins’ remarks came just one day before Thomas was released from Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he had spent nearly a week suffering from what had been described as “flu-like symptoms” and the aforementioned infection of unspecified type.

At a time when details about the severity of Thomas’ condition were not forthcoming from the high court or any other source, Perkins took to social media to reveal his true – and utterly offensive – sentiments about the situation.

“No one wants to openly admit [we all] hope Clarence Thomas dies,” Perkins wrote, adding, “[w]hatever you need to tell yourselves.”

Suggesting that Thomas deserved his and others’ disdain when he was perhaps at his most vulnerable, Perkins continued, “this whole rule we’re not to wish ill on people is silly. Uncle Thomas is a sexist token who’s committed himself to making us all share in he and his treasonous wife’s misery,” an apparent reference to the controversy recently swirling around the conservative political activism of the jurist’s wife, Ginny Thomas.

Not content to leave things there, the very next day, Perkins doubled down on his invective, according to The Post Millennial, tweeting, “Clarence Thomas can choke as far as I’m concerned. He hurts the people I love.”

The response Perkins received to his initial tweet was perhaps less enthusiastic than he anticipated, as he temporarily set his account to private, and UCLA’s vice chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Anna Spain Bradley, attempted to distance herself from the situation, saying that his commentary “does not reflect my or UCLA EDI’s views,” as Fox News noted.

This is not the first time Perkins has made headlines for all the wrong reasons, as back in 2011, while a law student at the University of Virginia, he publicly accused the school’s police department of engaging in unfair racial profiling against him – a claim that triggered FBI involvement and a subsequent retraction on his part, as The Post Millennial explained.

Considering that he appears to be little more than a garden variety racial grievance merchant, it is no surprise that Perkins has such disdain for a legendary conservative figure such as Thomas, but to publicly wish for his literal demise is a jarring example of the moral bankruptcy so characteristic of today’s left.
